Paradisus Los Cabos : An All-Inclusive With a Big Heart

These days it seems like our travel bucket list keeps growing, and time keeps moving faster… (How is it almost 2020?!) So you know we like a place when we keep coming back.

Paradisus Los Cabos is a luxurious all-inclusive resort destination located in between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. And we can’t get enough of it. We’ve been three times in the past three years (it opened in 2016), and you better believe we’re already anticipating our next trip. It’s that great.

There seems to be a stigma surrounding all-inclusives, that it’s a very manufactured, and “basic” experience. People often think that when you book a vacation at an all-inclusive, you’re giving into that cookie-cutter kind of travel. They think sure, you’ll relax by a pool and enjoy endless tacos and pina coladas, but you won’t actually get to really experience or understand the culture that you’re in.

We love the classic all-inclusive life, but Paradisus offers this and much more!

And while that may be the case for many all-inclusive resort properties, this couldn’t be farther from the truth when it comes to Paradisus Los Cabos. They’re taking small steps to make a big difference, and they’re paving the way for others to do the same. Here’s how:

“EMBRACE YOUR NATURE”

Just this November, Paradisus by Melia launched their new “Embrace Your Nature” campaign, highlighting the natural beauty and rich history of their many destinations. Their Paradisus Los Cabos property is one of the first to do so, with new cultural experiences and excursions for their guests to enjoy.

“Wait, so you can actually leave the property? I thought an all-inclusive meant you never leave the resort!”

Wrong! Paradisus encourages and promotes their guests to see and learn about the destination that they’re in. From sailing the Sea of Cortez to visiting organic farms, we saw a different, more authentic and personal side of Cabo than we’d ever seen before.

We tasted mezcal with a local expert at Acre Baja, and saw first-hand how this innovative restaurant and chic boutique hotel is aiding and giving back to the community. They even have a dog rescue program - and they’ve rescued over 120 so far!

We toured Flora Farms, a 25-acre organic working farm, complete with a restaurant, shops selling handmade goods, cooking classes, a spa, and more. They plant more than 100 varieties of vegetables and herbs, and Flora Farms now has a ranch that supplies humanely raised chicken, eggs, and pork for their restaurant, too! It’s the very definition of farm-to-table, and it’s beautiful!

We dined at Los Tamarindos, another organic farm and restaurant that’s located in a 19th century farmhouse, just one mile from the Sea of Cortez. The fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats we tried blew us away - it was a culinary journey we’ll never forget. And it’s all thanks to Paradisus!

Paradisus Los Cabos has plenty of ways to connect to the local culture on-property, too. One morning we helped set baby sea turtles into the ocean. They have over 500 sea turtle nests that their trained team protects and cares for. They educated us on how we can do our part to save these wonderful creatures, just by taking care of our environment! (Did you know that humans are their biggest predators due to oil spills, plastic debris, and habitat loss? We didn’t either.)

There’s also a store on the Paradisus Los Cabos property that’s dedicated to local artisan-made goods. Many of the items are handmade by Mexican women that have come from vulnerable communities, that are being helped by a non-profit organization called Proyecto Beatriz who is collaborating with Paradisus Los Cabos. The mirrors, bags, and accessories are not only chic and stylish, they’re also helping people. Talk about a win/win!

You may think you know what an all-inclusive is all about, but we encourage you to think again. Of course Paradisus Los Cabos has the luxurious amenities, stunning pools, delicious restaurants, and enchanting entertainment… but they’re also connecting their guests with the amazing people and resources that are just steps away. And that’s just one of the many reasons why we’ll keep coming back.

Exploring San Jose del Cabo

Exploring San Jose del Cabo

So, we just got back form the most epic stay at Paradisus Los Cabos, our favorite all-inclusive resort to date. It has everything - gorgeous rooms, amazing food, swim-up pools, tons of amenities, the BEST margaritas… we could go on and on. Another thing that they have going for them is the LOCATION. Located just ten minutes away from San José del Cabo and thirty minutes from Cabo San Lucas, it’s the perfect spot to feel “away” from the madness yet “close enough” to explore! During our stay we decided to spend a day in San José del Cabo, partially because it’s so close, but also because it’s one of our favorite towns in Mexico.

Eating Our Way Through Paradisus Los Cabos

Eating Our Way Through Paradisus Los Cabos

We love to eat. There, we said it. If we’re really being honest, we oftentimes pick our next destination based on food. (We went to Japan 80% for the food, 20% for everything else.)

So before going to Paradisus Los Cabos, we were skeptical that an all-inclusive resort could live up to our usual high-standards of cuisine. Spoiler alert: the food blew us away. With seven restaurants, seven bars, and incredible room service (our favorite!), Paradisus Los Cabos is a tasty and creative mecca for sometimes-snobby foodies like ourselves.

Paradisus Los Cabos: Why We Can't Stay Away

Paradisus Los Cabos: Why We Can't Stay Away

We aren’t typically the kind of travelers that go to the same place twice. Our travel bucket-list is just too big, and our wanderlust spirits have us always on the hunt for new destinations to explore. That being said, there have been a handful of spots that we will continue coming back to, year after year, and Paradisus Los Cabos is one of those places!

TREAT YOURSELF! (AND DON’T FEEL GUILTY)

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is “with all of that travel and fancy food, how do you stay in shape?!”  And our secret is… Instagram filters!! No, but seriously. It’s a challenge!  (Especially when you’re foodies like us!) We recently vacationed at the Paradisus Los Cabos, where endless decadent food and drinks were at our disposal. It was all too good and too tempting to pass up!! Here are some of our tricks for indulging, and not even feeling sorry about it!

START THE DAY RIGHT

We started every morning at the Paradisus with a dip in the pool - which is easy when you have a swim up suite!! We’d make a game out of who could swim the most laps, who could come up with the most creative routines, who could kick the fastest… You get the picture. After a half and hour we had blood circulating, metabolism spiked, and we were ready to “dive” into breakfast! (get it?!)

EAT YOUR VEGGIES FIRST

Maybe it’s because we’re California kids, or maybe we’re just super trendy… but we LOVE green juice. At the Paradisus they make a fresh squeezed green juice that’s out of this world! We’d start every breakfast with it, and we found that it would quickly fill us up! We’d still order our usual waffles and eggs benedict… but we made sure we got our greens in first. We’re all about balance. ;)

SAY YES TO ACTIVITIES!

While we are big fans of “getting our tan on”, there’s only so much sitting still that we can do! The Paradisus activity staff had numerous activities throughout the day to keep busy bodies like us occupied. From yoga, to pool aerobics and mixology classes by the beach… there was always something to do! Staying on the move kept our appetites peaked - and we weren’t mad about it!

END THE DAY WITH A SUNSET BEACH WALK

One of the final ways we trick ourselves into exercising is taking a romantic walk to watch the sunset. At the Paradisus we had the entire beach to ourselves… so we usually ended up walking a little longer and further than normal. It was peaceful, refreshing, and sparked amazing conversations. Our sunset walks were some of our favorite memories while in Cabo - and by the time we made it back to the resort we were more than ready to eat dinner!

LET GO AND ENJOY

Ok. So there you have some of our “tricks” for having your cake while you’re on vacation, and eating it too. But our biggest tip for you is to just let go!!! Enjoy where you are, and don’t worry about anything else. At the Paradisus Los Cabos the food and drinks were SO good, our motto quickly became “YOLO” (You Only Live Once)! Vacation is meant to be enjoyed… so enjoy it!!! As we like to say, “Our diet starts tomorrow.” ;)
